This Clover my regular companion. She is a black and white Dutch rabbit and almost six and a half years old. She is now completely at home on the ground floor of my house. She doesn't like being picked up but we have an arrangement so that I can pick her up when I need to put eye drops in her eyes. She is very good about it and afterwards we have lovely snuggle. But she loves being stroked and must have many, many, many strokes every day. She came to live with me on April 6th 2008 on permanent loan from my friends the Wards. They had had her since she was quite small. She already knew me since I had on several occasions snuggled her when visiting the Wards. She's quite a well fed bun and enjoys her food which she eats with enthusiasm. She is my first bun to like cucumber and grapes and cashew nuts! 16/8/2011 |
Sadly I had let Rosie go yesterday (March 31st 2008). She had a large mass in her abdomen probably attached to her kidney. Rosie was almost five and a half years old; a very good age for a guinea pig. She was still very soft with extremely fine soft cream coloured fur. Although she was
bossy when she was younger (see Previous Pets
Page) she has in recent times been bossed about by Ginger. Since
Ginger went she's been a little lonely.
She liked chin tickling and would hold her head pointing straight
up while you did it.
I miss her very much and the house is so empty without any pets in it.

Ginger R.I.P. |
I got Ginger as a companion for Rosie after Bramble died. She was supposed to be about the same age! She turned out to be much younger and pregnant! She gave birth to four beautiful babies but sadly two died at only a few days old. The other two went to a good home together. She succumbed to a bladder infection and gall stones in June 2007. She's much missed. She too loved her chin to be tickled. |

Clover R.I.P. |
Sadly Clover is no longer with us. She was put to sleep, on the vet's advice, on Friday July 20th, 2007. Clover was a rescue rabbit - over eight and three-quarter years old. She's was a chinchilla type. She had a very soft and gentle nature but never really got used to handling. She loved her strokes and her ears were so soft to the touch. She loved Moonlight, and Mark, and in their turns they spend most of their time together. Since Mark's death nearly three years ago she accepted and become very close to Fluff. They spent much of the time together and he no longer went upstairs and snoozed on the landing as he used to do - I think he'd got too plump. She was ill last year (2006) and was still underweight. Fluff doesn't help as he scoffs all the food and is now very overweight. More recently she had a gum infection and an overgrown tooth removed. |
Fluff R.I.P. |
Latest NewsI took him to the vet for a check on his teeth and he had another abscess on the left side this time. He had a tooth removed and the vet made failed attempts to remove his other teeth on the left. At his progress check the abscess appeared to be disappearing thanks to the antibiotics. However, septicaemia set in and he passed away today. September 20th, 2007
Fluff had recently suffered from serious mouth abscesses. The full extent of the problem was not known until the vet had him under anaesthetic. It's hard to understand how he got so plump when his mouth was so bad. He lost his teeth on the right side of his mouth. Recovery was slow and I must express my thanks to David and Carole Ward who looked after my pets while I was away in North Yorkshire. He was over the worst but was not eating properly and they did wonderfully well to get medicine and food into him. Afterwards he was eating like a horse and had got his bounce back and was chasing Clover around. Fluff was over six and a half years old. He came to me two and a half years ago as an unwanted and unloved pet. He was so sweet it's difficult to see how anyone could fail to adore him. He was very much at home in my house! He tried not to let me pick him up without a struggle - unless I sneak up on him. He seemed to know when I wanted to pick him up! However, he loved to be stroked for hours from nose to tail. He was very gentle and had never shown the least sign of aggression. He loved Clover and who can blame him. He missed her dreadfully when Clover died and went down with an infection. He just about recovered before I went off to Norwich for a week. My daughter Katie looked after him and Rosie wonderfully well while I was away and he seemed back to normal. He no longer went upstairs to snooze on the landing as he used to do last year - I think he'd got too plump. He loved to go into the cellar (my daughter's ex-bedroom) when my daughter visits. He'd live up to his name as he often moulted profusely. When I got back from Durham he had started to go upstairs and lie under the foot of my bed for hours. I took him to the vet for a check on his teeth and he had another abscess on the left side this time. He had a tooth removed and the vet made failed attempts to remove his other teeth on the left. As a result his prognosis was uncertain. I have to give him antibiotics twice a day and on Friday (14th September) he had to go for a progress check. |
