June 2009: Another visit to Somerset

Back To Vacations

I went to Somerset for few days in June 2009 to visit friends again.

I broke my journey southwards in Dudley and Corsham , and northwards near Much Wenlock.

This gave me time to visit places on the way: Blists Hill Victorian Town and the other Ironbidge Gorge Museums, the Severn Valley Railway, Hailes Abbey, Avebury, Lacock, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, the East Somerset Railway, Wells, Berkeley Castle, Gloucester Cathedral, and Shrewsbury.

Whilst in Somerset I visited the Somerset Museum of Rural Life, Wedmore, Minehead, Glastonbury and its Abbey, and Muchelney Abbey.

The week I chose was generally dry in England but some days in Somerset were rather overcast.

For a chronological resumé of my trip follow these links: Somerset June 2009 Day by Day.
