Lindisfarne or Holy Island is one of the Farne islands off the coast of Northumberland. Motor traffic can reach it by a causeway when the tide is low.

Colourful collection of coaches parked in the coach park on Lindisfarne on a beautiful day. I had been to Lindisfarne twice before, 2003 and 2007, and each time it was a beautiful sunny day.

The shutle bus leaves from here but it was much too nice a day not to walk.

Looking back across the harbour to the Priory and the coastguard station.

Turning the other way we see the Castle very prominent on its mound. I resisted the temptation of a crab sandwich.

Back on the path there is stiff climb ahead.
