The purpose of the stop was to visit St Aidan's church and graveyard.

A lovely setting on a late summer's day.

Quite a headstone.

The eagle-eye will spot Lindisfarne Castle on the horizon just to left of centre.

Though the graveyard ...

... to the Grace Darling Memorial.

The original effigy in Portland stone is in the church. This one is carved in local stone.

The Castle dominates Bamburgh.

Another interesting headstone.

Inside the church is this old carved bench end.
